The Steps to Salvation
There are many people that are not real sure of how to answer the question; "If you were to die right now, do you know that you would go to Heaven?" How do you answer? If you would like to know for certain, without any shadow of doubt, that you would go to Heaven today, then please keep reading.
Many of the books of the Bible show us the plan for salvation through Jesus Christ. We would like to show you through the book of Romans. It is in the New Testament and is one of the 66 books of the Bible.
The scripture tells us in Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." Note the use of "ALL." That means me, you, our pastors, our neighbors, everyone is a sinner and we "ALL" fall short of Gods standards. You may be a better person than many, but you will still fall short of Gods glory.
In Romans 6:23, it says, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." If we are "ALL" sinners, then scripture tells us that our wage will be death. Just as we go to work and expect a payment, or wage, in return, the payment for being a sinner is death. But, there is good news in that God made a plan for saving us from that death. It was through his gift of Jesus Christ.
How did He do this? In Romans 5:8, "But God demonstrates His love toward us, in that, while we were sinners, Christ died for us." It was Gods plan that through Jesus Christs crucifixion we could believe in Him, commit our lives to Him and receive His love. That is the gift of Jesus Christ.
So how do we receive that gift? Romans 10:9-10, "That if thou confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus Christ, and shalt believe in thine heart that God raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation" This is how we receive that gift. We, 1) confess, or agree, that Jesus Christ is Lord. Then we, 2) believe in our heart that Jesus died on a cross, was buried and on the third day rose again.
Romans 10:13 says, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" Try substituting your name in place of whosoever. "For (your name here) calls upon the name of the Lord and will be saved."
If you have walked down the Romans Road above and want to know right now that you will receive this gift from God, then say this prayer, right there where you are:
Dear Jesus, I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. Come into my life and save my soul. Thank you for saving me and coming into my life. Amen.
Now, according to the Bible, where would you go if you died today? (Go back to Romans 10:13, did you call upon the name of the Lord? Did you mean it? Then according to the Bible, God saved you today)
What now??? Well, after we are saved and have invited Christ into our life, Jesus says to obey His commandments. One of those commandments is to follow Him in believers baptism. We encourage you to go to your church home, or community church and let the ministry staff there know of your decision. They will lead you through baptism. If you are in the Winchester / Lexington area, the college - career class and all others at Central Baptist Church would be honored to have you visit our fellowship and witness your public profession of faith. Scripture then tells us to grow daily and become more like Christ. Become involved in your church and begin praying for others that need to know Jesus today.
We Love You, and would love to hear from you through our guestbook or prayer list. Matthew 28:19-20
